FOR THOSE WHO PREFER TO GO GUIDED

DAY 1 - MALTA - TBILISI

Meet your tour manager at Malta International Airport for your flight to Tbilisi.

DAY 2 - TBILISI CITY

Upon arrival, we transfer to the 5* Radisson RED Tbilisi for check-in. After breakfast we’ll set out to explore Georgia’s beautiful and vibrant capital, Tbilisi.

Our city tour begins at the historic Metekhi Church, offering breathtaking panoramic views over the Old Town.

The city’s colourful wooden balconies, distinctive architecture, and seamless blend of ancient charm and modern culture create an unforgettable first impression.

Exploring primarily on foot, we visit a variety of historical and contemporary landmarks, including Sioni Cathedral, Anchiskhati Basilica, the historic Caravanserai, the Synagogue, the striking Peace Bridge, and the renowned Rezo Gabriadze Marionette Theatre.

A highlight of the day is a scenic cable car ride from Rike Park to Narikala Fortress, providing spectacular views across the city.

We conclude our sightseeing with a visit to the Abanotubani sulphur baths district, famous for its distinctive brick domes and colourful mosaics.

In the late afternoon, we visit Tbilisi’s Christmas markets. Celebrating Christmas and New Year in Tbilisi is a truly special experience, combining ancient traditions with modern festivities.

During this season, the city transforms into a winter wonderland filled with festive energy.

The most notable market, the Christmas Village, is located at Orbeliani Square and Dedaena Park, beautifully decorated with twinkling lights and seasonal ornaments.

Stalls offer handmade crafts, unique souvenirs, and traditional Georgian products—ranging from jewellery and pottery to woollen goods and Christmas decorations—often accompanied by folk concerts and a lively atmosphere.

In the evening, we enjoy a warm and authentic experience with a local Georgian family. Guests participate in a traditional dinner along with culinary masterclasses, including khachapuri baking and churchkhela making. Throughout the evening, we learn about Georgian traditions connected to Christmas and New Year celebrations.

One of the most significant customs is the tradition of the mekvle (“First Foot”). The mekvle is the first person to enter a home after midnight on New Year’s Day and is believed to bring good fortune for the year ahead. Families carefully choose someone associated with positive energy and success.

Dinner features a rich array of traditional festive dishes, including satsivi (chicken or turkey in walnut sauce), khachapuri, and a variety of seasonal salads.

Special emphasis is placed on gozinaki, a traditional sweet made from honey and walnuts, symbolising health, happiness, and prosperity.

At the end of this memorable evening, we transfer back to the hotel.

DAY 3 - MTSKHETA – GUDAURI

After breakfast, we depart for Mtskheta, Georgia’s ancient capital and one of its most sacred cities.

We visit Jvari Monastery (6th century), beautifully positioned on a hilltop overlooking the confluence of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers.

We then continue to Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th century), built from distinctive greenish stone and believed to house the robe of Christ. Both monuments are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Guests will have the opportunity to take part in a traditional candle-making workshop with local nuns. Lunch is served at a local winery, where we enjoy a slow-food-inspired meal paired with Georgian wines.

After lunch, we proceed to the Ananuri Architectural Complex (17th century), dramatically overlooking the turquoise Zhinvali Reservoir. The intricate stone carvings, including crosses, archangels, mythical creatures, and the Tree of Life, make it a remarkable example of Georgian ecclesiastical art.

In the late afternoon, we arrive in Gudauri and check-in at the 5* Marco Polo Hotel. The evening is free for leisure or optional skiing activities.

DAY 4 - KAZBEGI (STEPANTSMINDA)

After breakfast, we head towards Kazbegi, officially known as Stepantsminda, a picturesque town nestled in the heart of the Georgian Caucasus. Renowned for its dramatic alpine scenery, towering peaks, and rich regional heritage, Kazbegi offers some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the country.

Dominating the horizon is the Gergeti Trinity Church, a powerful symbol of faith and resilience. Perched on a hilltop at an altitude of 2,170 meters, this iconic 14th century church overlooks the town of Kazbegi and is framed by the majestic Caucasus Mountains. Isolated yet awe-inspiring, Gergeti Trinity Church is one of Georgia’s most celebrated landmarks and a testament to the country’s deep-rooted Christian traditions.

Following the visit, guests will have free time for leisure, allowing them to relax, explore the surroundings, or simply enjoy the stunning mountain views at their own pace.

DAY 5 - GUDAURI – GORI – UPLISTSIKHE – TBILISI

After breakfast, we travel along the historic Great Silk Road, following one of the world’s most legendary trade routes. Our journey takes us to Gori, the birthplace of Joseph Stalin, where we make a brief photo stop at the Stalin Museum.

We then continue to the remarkable ancient cave city of Uplistsikhe, one of Georgia’s most fascinating archaeological sites. Dating back to the 1st century AD—and, according to archaeologists, with origins as early as the 3rd millennium BC—Uplistsikhe, meaning “Fortress of the Lord,” is an extraordinary rock-hewn city carved into the cliffs of the Kura River Gorge. Strategically positioned along the Silk Road, it once flourished as a major center of trade, religion, culture, and politics. As we explore the site, we discover an impressive collection of cave dwellings, temples, palaces, theaters, wine cellars, warehouses, and even a sophisticated ancient irrigation system—an exceptional testament to early Georgian civilisation.

Next, we visit Château Mukhrani, a prestigious 19th-century estate where the historic prince’s palace still stands. We tour the atmospheric wine cellars housed in the original basement, which preserve an outstanding collection of fine wines. A wine tasting introduces us to top-quality local vintages, produced using a unique fusion of traditional Georgian techniques and internationally renowned winemaking methods. Lunch is served at the château, accompanied by selected wines.

In the evening, we experience nightlife like locals with a visit to Fabrika, one of Tbilisi’s most popular social and cultural hubs. This lively venue is a favorite gathering place for Georgians and visitors alike. We enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and spend the evening as locals do—socialising and unwinding. The first drink is on us.

Later, we head to Shavi Lomi Restaurant for dinner. Set in a cozy and authentic environment, the restaurant offers traditional Georgian cuisine with a contemporary twist. We savour signature dishes such as phali, flavorful stews, and other regional specialties, paired with Georgian wines or homemade drinks. It is a perfect ending to the day, offering a true taste of Georgia’s flavours and renowned hospitality.

DAY 6 - TBILISI HTL - DRIVE TO KAKHETI - BODBE MONASTERY - SIGHNAGHI - TBILISI

Today, we travel to Kakheti, Georgia’s renowned wine region, celebrated for its breathtaking landscapes, ancient vineyards, and rich cultural heritage. This fertile region is home to an extraordinary concentration of historical monuments and traditions. Georgia boasts 527 endemic grape varieties, and its traditional qvevri winemaking method, dating back over 8,000 years, is recognised as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. For this reason, Georgia is widely regarded as the oldest wine producing country in the world and the true cradle of wine.

Our first stop is the Bodbe Monastery and Nunnery, set within a beautifully landscaped garden overlooking the Alazani Valley. This sacred site is the burial place of Saint Nino, the woman credited with converting Georgia to Christianity. In Georgian nunneries, the period leading up to Christmas is one of deep spiritual reflection, prayer, and fasting. During this time, the nuns decorate their convents with handmade ornaments, candles, and icons, with special care given to the Nativity scene, often displayed prominently within the chapel.

We then enjoy lunch at a local family winery, where traditional hospitality is paired with a wine tasting, offering insight into Kakheti’s centuries-old winemaking traditions.

In the afternoon, we visit the charming hill town of Sighnaghi, often referred to as the “Georgian Tuscany.” Dating back to the 18th century, this picturesque town is surrounded by a 4.8-kilometer-long defensive wall with multiple watchtowers. We take a leisurely stroll through its cobbled streets and admire spectacular panoramic views of the Alazani Valley, framed by the majestic Caucasus Mountains.

Here, guests will have the opportunity to see a Chichilaki—the traditional Georgian Christmas tree. Crafted from dried hazelnut or walnut branches, the wood is delicately shaved into long, curly strands, creating a soft, fluffy appearance reminiscent of a small white tree. The Chichilaki symbolizes hope, renewal, and new beginnings, making it a cherished element of Georgian Christmas traditions.

DAY 7 - TBILISI

After breakfast, we visit the famous Tbilisi Sulfur Baths, located in the historic Abanotubani district. Renowned for their naturally warm, sulfur-rich waters, these baths have been used for centuries for relaxation and therapeutic purposes and are an integral part of Tbilisi’s cultural heritage.

We then visit a social enterprise, where guests can take part in a hands-on creative experience. At a traditional enamel studio, we will try our hand at producing a simple enamel craft, creating a unique handmade item to take home as a personal souvenir of our time in Georgia.

Later, we enjoy a scenic ride on the Tbilisi Funicular, a historic cable railway that connects central Tbilisi with Mtatsminda Park, perched high above the city. The journey offers spectacular panoramic views of Tbilisi unfolding below.

At the summit, the famous historic Funicular Restaurant awaits us. Built in 1938, the magnificent Funicular complex has become both an architectural landmark and a symbol of the city. Here, at the highest point in Tbilisi, we enjoy a superb dinner, accompanied by breathtaking views over the entire city illuminated below—an unforgettable way to conclude the day.

DAY 8 - TBILISI – MALTA

After breakfast, we check out of the hotel and transfer to the airport for our flight to Malta, departing with unforgettable memories of Georgia.
